Some recent Spacious Mind Web Design and Development projects:
-
Addiction NV Cosmetics
Addiction NV is an established cosmetics brand based out of Huntington Beach, CA. They contacted us requesting a full eCommerce web site in order to sell their products online and to be able to track the orders with QuickBooks integration. The custom Joomla!-based CMS (Content Management System) web site we created for them was launched in November 2009, and has been steadily selling products ever since.
-
Cyber Angels
Cyber Angels is a teen superhero comic book property with a twist — the heroes are teenage girls, and they’re digital. The creator of this cybercrime-fighting trio needed a web presence to help promote Cyber Angels, and Spacious Mind was there to help. The WordPress-powered site, containing a blog and a custom home page Flash animation and audio, was custom-created in the popular blogging platform WordPress for easy client blog posting and updating.
-
Wyn Guitars
Summer 2009 marked the launch of Randall Wyn Fullmer’s custom bass guitar shop, Wyn Guitars, and Spacious Mind was enlisted to get him online. This WordPress-powered site contains a blog where Randy posts updates when he has time — his site has helped keep his one-man business focused on making guitars, not writing web updates. Luckily we’re here to help him with that.

Pen on Fire Speaker Series
The Pen on Fire Speaker Series is a monthly event curated by Orange County writer and renaissance woman Barbara DeMarco-Barrett. We have maintained Barbara’s web site for a long time, and originally the web presence for this series was simply another page within her own site. We decided to give it its own identity with a one-page site to accompany a poster design (see print projects below) created to promote the series that provides all the necessary information. An all-new main site for Barbara is coming soon from Spacious Mind.
-
Superchunk
Superchunk is a rock band from Chapel Hill, NC, who have been kicking about since 1989 and were best known during the 1990s for a string of now-classic and indispensable albums. Longtime fans of the band, we approached them offering to redesign their site around the time of their last album’s release in 2001. A site for Superchunk member Mac McCaughan’s solo endeavor Portastatic soon followed (see next slide).
-
Portastatic
Portastatic is the side project of rock band Superchunk’s singer/guitarist Mac McCaughan. After completing a site for Superchunk (previous slide), one for Portastatic soon followed. The site has been through several iterations since it’s inception in the early 2000s.
TeAda Artists Studio
TeAda is a “modern multidisciplinary and interpretive art” studio located in Santa Monica, CA, run by performance artist Leilani Chan. Spacious Mind was asked in 2007 to overhaul their existing, somewhat outdated web site. Working closely with TeAda, we produced a fun, informative site showcasing upcoming and past events and featuring core artist’s biographies.
-
Diane Millar
Diane is a dental hygenist and hygiene instructor based in Newport Beach, CA. In 2007, Lippincott Williams and Wilkins published her first book, “Reinforced Periodontal Instrumentation and Ergonomics for the Dental Care Provider”. Diane needed a way to not only promote sales of the book, but to leverage the platform her book would provide into an instruction and consulting business.

UC Irvine’s Department of Biological Studies
In 2006, Dr. Arthur Lander, chair of UC Irvine’s Department of Biological Studies, commissioned Spacious Mind to create two web sites, one for a the Graduate Program in Mathematical, Computational and Systems Biology (MCSB) and one for the Center for Complex Biological Systems (CCSB). For both these projects, Spacious Mind worked with a database programmer to create a sortable database of faculty contacts.
Some recent Spacious Mind print projects:
-
Google Irvine digital illustration
Google’s Irvine office recently called upon Spacious Mind to create a fun digital illustration for use on internal company promotional items such as apparel, coffee mugs, paperweights, etc. Following their brief, we created a beach scene set in a surfboard shape, incorporating elements of Orange County landmarks as sand sculptures.

This full-color, 6-page publication is sent to L’ANZA distributors and retailers 4 times per year. As of May 2010, current plans are to continue for 2 more issues in 2010 and beyond.
